How to read a TAF

A TAF is a forecast for an airport, usually valid for 24 or 30 hours. It starts with a base forecast, then change groups. FM means conditions change from a given time. BECMG means a gradual change in the stated period. TEMPO means short fluctuations. PROB30 and PROB40 give the chance of an event. Each group above is decoded on its own so you can read the forecast in order.
